Together we can make a change!

Life-skills

Our goal is to prepare our children to become educated and independent succesful young men. Besides going to school, the children are learning how to grow fruit and vegetables. For now this is for own consumption and within a couple of years also to sell. One of our requirements was that the house -where the shelter is located- should own a large piece of land so that we can grow in and sell from our own backyard. The children also learn how to take care of hens so they have eggs for own consumption and later to sell.

Other life skills they will learn are carpentery and sewing. With the money we make by selling fruit, vegetables and eggs, we will buy carpentery materials and a sewing machine. If you are a carpenter or tailor by profession, or you have the skills and would like to make a difference in the life of our children, we would love having you as a volunteer in Iringa!  Furthermore we are looking for volunteers who can teach our children how to fish and how to swim.

Volunteers should be 21 years or older. and willing to teach our children for at least 3 weeks in a row. Our main focus lies on the care of the children and as a result, we do not offer extensive volunteer programs.
